This past week!

She was one of my favorites

This little girl was one of my favorites

She was so cute and had a great personality

Hey everyone! Sorry, we have been super busy here with the first cycle of teams this week. They arrived on Monday, June 20 my birthday and since we have been super busy. The first full day for the teams on Tuesday, we had an intense drama called "Passion Play" and that was similar to the movie 'The Passion of the Christ'. After that drama, we had worship and prayer time where the students could come to us staff and ask for prayer and I had a girl named Taylor who was 15 come up to me and told me a little about her life and also asked me to help her accept God into her heart. That was such a great honor and experience and has been one of the best ones so far. That really struck me and made me happy to bless her. The first few days we trained them in dramas, skits, dances, puppet shows, crafts for vbs, etc. I did a drama, a dance and specifically helped with the vbs. This week was awesome with the first week of the teams. I only went out two days out of four days with the teams, but that's okay...I still had a great time! The first outreach we did, we all went out into a colonial and went door to door with groups and told them we were going to be playing games, having dramas, etc and to come and hang with us. We had at least a crowd of 35+ which was great. It was so nice to play with the kids there. During that time, I got close to two girls the ages of 4 and 6 and they were so sad when I left, which also made me sad. The next day I stayed on base and cleaned and got another room ready for a family that was coming and had some free time. Yesterday I went out again and I went with a team from Ohio and we went to a church and did vbs there. At first we played games or just played around with them, then did a dance and a skit and had lunch, after that we did some fun crafts and played more until we had to leave. We shared the bible story of David and Goliath. Yesterday and this past week has been great. The next teams don't come till Thursday which is nice and so we have a little break, but need to clean and prepare for them. I will post some pictures so you can see some things I did during the week-- Enjoy!

My weekend

Hi, I hope everyone is doing well! I have had a super busy weekend and week. We finally finished all our stuff for this week (tomorrow) when the first teams come! We learned a few dramas, dances and crafts. During the week we cleaned so much and got the base and rooms ready for the first few teams. I have the privilege to go to San Diego on my birthday and pick up the teams! I am really excited to get the teams. I am happy to see what God has planned for everyone this first week. I know God will change a lot of people and also myself. My foot has almost "officially" healed. I got a rusty nail through my foot and rolled my ankle a little 5 nights ago. I am glad that I am healed for this week! Hope you all have a great week!

What we've been doing

Like I said in my last blog, we have been super busy latley. We have been preparing and getting ready for the teams to come on Monday, June 20 (My Golden Birthday)! We have been working on certain projects such as dramas, songs, crafts, rules video, etc. Some of us planned an injustice night which we will be turning the base into a refugee camp. This night is suppose to be a very intense night. They will be going through certain opstacles to stay well. Some will have shelter, food, water, passports and some will have none. This night is to show them how this really happens around the world. Over the weekend we went out to eat at a nice restaurant for a guy's birthday. After that we went shopping for a while.

Yesterday we started off our day by praying for each other. We drew names out of a hat and went off to pray for that person. I had Miguel and Nick had me. God told Nick to tell me that I was here for a reason and to help people, that I need to trust God and he has a plan for my life. It was great to here God speak to Nick and him share it with me. This night we went into town and went to a carnival, it was fun.

Three days ago a women who was drunk came to the base and had a little girl who was about 3 years old with her. This drunk woman said her mom asked her to watch the daughter for an hour and they never came back for her. It has been 6 days today that the mom or dad have not returned for this little girl. The drunk lady asked us to take care of her, because she can't help her because she is homless and an alcoholic. This little girl did not eat for 4 days, have a shower or have her diaper changed. The older adults here on staff took her and fed her, changed her, and bathed her and also gave her some new shoes and clothes. The drunk lady said she would bring her back the next day and never did. We have unfortunately not seen her since. The little girl's parents were very poor and the dad abused them. We also know that this little girl was living in a junk yard with this alcoholic lady. Please keep her in your prayers and that she returns or we can find her. It is such a sad story.
This is a picture taken from the roof where we ate.

The last few days..

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been on lately, we have been super busy. The last few days we have had training which consists of hospitality work, kitchen duty, clean-up duty for the base and rooms. It was nice getting to know the basics around here. Yesterday we went into the mountains for a 8 hour period and sat by ourselves or near others in silence and solitude. The point was to be silent for God and listen and hear him speak to you. It was kind of different for me at first and then I started to enjoy it. I have done stuff similar at my church camps, but nothing this intense and long. At first, I just sat and listened to God and prayed. I really enjoyed it and heard God telling me to be more Patient in my life. I came across a few verses, which were Micah 6:8 and Romans 12. It was different for me climbing down the mountains to get near the ocean. I did actually fall on my butt, but I was totally fine. I did not have sun screen when I was out there, so I got really burnt on my shoulders, neck and back and face! Besides that, I am tan as well :) I hope you all are doing great!

Arrival and First Day!

I left Minneapolis yesterday, Sunday June 5. My flight left at 3pm and I arrived in San Diego at 4:45. When I got to San Diego, I had to wait almost 30 minutes to get picked up by YWAM. I met a girl from Cambridge, MN on my van and she flew in hours before me. I thought it was really nice that another person was there from Minnesota. I also had the opportunity right away to meet a guy from Guatamela. The driver I met last August, so it was a pleasure to have him again. We went to IN-N-Out Burger to eat dinner while we waited for two more students to arrive from Northern California. After we all arrived, we drove down to Ensenada, Mexico! It was a fun ride and a great time to get to know eachother.

Today we had some basic training and getting to know each other. We cleaned during the day and had training in the morning. Today I cleaned the rooms, swept, pulled weeds and picked up trash. Tonight I went out into town with some friends to celebrate and have a fun first night. I love being in the sun and so I am happy to say that I already have a tan line and a little sun on my face! My roommate is named Rachel and she is from Modesdo California. We have a room together and then four other girls are in the other room in our apartment. I already knew one of the other girls in our apartment from last summer which was nice. There are more people here on staff that I have met before, which is a pleasure knowing people when you come down. Well, I hope you enjoyed reading this and will write another one in a day or two, thanks!

P.S- This is my first blog ever, so I hope it is decent!

This is part of the YWAM Base

The one next to me is my roommate Rachel and then Beth(she is from England) and Ginny(she is also from Cali)
